Pyramids of Giza

Encyclopaedia Britannica
Pyramids of Giza

-The Great Pyramid is the biggest of them all, with a base length 756ft long.
-The pyramids accurately faces North, South, East, and West.
-They built the tombs for their kings.
-They cut around 2.3 million blocks of stone, some weighing 150 tons!
-Important kings to know, Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.
-The original outer shells of them where striped or eroded throughout history.
-Scholars believe they used rollers, sledges, and levers to construct these mammoth catacombs.

Questions:
- Where did they get the limestone and granite materials?
- Why did they build them and how does it connect to their religious background?
- How does this compare to the Taj Mahal?
