  • Haute couture is very expensive; therefore, only a few thousand people in the world can afford to wear it, such as celebrities.
  • This proves to show that fashion can sometimes determine your economic standing in society.
  • Because high fashion is quite expensive, many haute couture boutiques are losing money on the sale of their merchandise because many people cannot afford it.
  • Fashion shows are created to show the creations of the new fashions made by the couture designers. These shows definitely help to sell these clothes.
  • The world's most famous fashion shows usually occur in Milan, New York, and Paris.
  • In the nineteenth century people that wanted to present themselves like they were standing economically high in society; therefore, they hired skilled dressmakers to reproduce the original haute couture fashions without paying the actual price.
  • With people paying less money for replicas of expensive fashion, that is how "knock-off" things came to be.
