In this article I learned:
Country started in the 1920s
Has more acoustic sounding instruments. i.e: banjo, guitar, mandolin
In 1960s country rock invented, Elvis brought this on
More rock and roll sounding music was added but still with meaningful words
Lyrics can range from religion to love being lost
One of the most popular genres of music
become more mainstream
began mixing with pop music. i.e: Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, etc
Is this the same in Europe?
Did it sound the same back in the 60s?
Which is more popular, Country Rock, Pop Country, or downright country itself?

On the charts as you can see, country is ranging from country rock to downright country. I know most of these songs and most of the artists but a couple I have not heard of. Country has more of a meaning to it and has a soul and lyrical meaning whereas pop music has more of a enjoyable sound rather than meaning behind it.
